Graphic Design Job requirements?

How come every graphic design job i find wants you to have good customer service skills? I am an ARTIST not a sales person, if i wanted to do sales I would still work in the mall. So, does anyone know what the deal with that is?

You’re not expected to sell–per se.

You are, however, the liaison as the customer communicates to you the whats and hows of his/her projects to be designed. Hence the customer service skills.
